Travel The USA To Portland - Home Of The Microbrew - a travel USA review by Jennifer McKinnis

Travel all over the USA and you will not find a place with more locally brewed beers than Portland, Oregon. In fact, Portland is known as the motherland for microbrews.

No other state that you will encounter on your travels across the USA has the bounty that Oregon does. The tall hops and bitter barley grown here in conjunction with the pure Cascade Mountain water is the perfect recipe for the perfect brew.

Bridgeport Brew Pub

 Bridgeport Brew Pub

Of all the places you travel the USA, Portland has the best places to drink the best microbrews. The oldest microbrewery here in Portland is Bridgeport Brewing located in Portland's historic Peal District at 1313 NW Marshall Street. The building itself is also a local landmark. Built in 1888, it housed the Portland Cordage Company which made hemp rope for the ships that docked on the Willamette. At Bridgeport Brewing you can take on of the daily tours of the facility and finish the tour off with a tasting. Bridgeport also has a newly remodeled dining room in case you get hungry travelling the USA.

You can also tour the Full Sail Brewery at the Riverplace which sits right on the waterfront at 0307 SW Montgomery. Sit and watch the boats go by, think about your travel USA plans and sip on a cold one brewed right there!

If you choose to cross the river, there are even more brewpubs to tour! One of the little giants of brewing is Widmere Brewing on Russell Street. Widmere is famous for it's Hefewizen brew and it's Gasthaus pub for grub.

Independent brewers have been sprouting all over Portland and are becoming favorites for the locals. Check out the Lucky Lab Brewpub in the Hawthorne district and Amnesia Brewing in the Mississippi area.

Of all the places you travel in the USA, the competition pales in comparison to Oregon brewpubs. You can come to the homeland for those tasty brews you see on your local supermarket shelves back home. Travel the USA to Portland and see what's brewing!
