| In my travels of the USA, nothing seems to beat the drum louder for the love of all things Americana than Arlington Heights, Illinois. I have never been to a city filled with landmarks and places that are so distinctly American in origin.

Arlington Park Race Track located in Arlington Heights Illinois | Would you like to find out how the famous golden arches began? I travelled to the McDonald's USA First Store Museum to find out. The museum is an exact replica of the first McDonald's that was opened by Ray Kroc in the mid 1950's. I was amazed by the amount of the vintage photographs that documented the early restaurant as well as the original kitchen equipment that would have been used at the time.
Speaking of the 1950's, the Kimball Hill Museum Home is a perfect example of the post World War II era house. Domestic living, at it's Ward and June Cleaver best, is represented well by the pictures, furniture and appliances displayed here. Everytime I travel the USA, I find I'm drawn by the innocence that the Kimball Hill Museum Home represents.
Frank Lloyd Wright was a true American in every sense of the word. I have seen many examples of his architectural design in my travels of the USA. His home designs were revolutionary and the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio is no exception. Over the years here, as his style developed, this home and studio has seen many unique room added on that he designed for his use. It is now opened for guided tours and a must see for those visiting.
Baseball has been very, very good for Arlington Heights with Wrigley Field. This landmark was open for business in 1914 and has been Chicago's pride and joy ever since. With ivy covered brick walls and an old fashioned, lo-tech manual scoreboard, you can't find a better example of Americana. Everytime I visit for an "old ballgame", I have never seen such a friendly atmosphere for watching the Chicago Cubs.
If you want to see what Americana is all about in your travels of the USA, you have see Arlington Heights, Illinois for yourself.
