Located in the panhandle region of Oklahoma, Beaver Dunes state park covers more than 500 acres, with 300 acres open to dune buggy riding. In addition to the thrill of speeding dune bugging rides, visitors can enjoy quieter and slower actives like hiking trails, campgrounds and a great playground for the kids.
The park includes two campgrounds – Hackberry Bend campground located right by Beaver Lake, and the Pioneer Campground located right next to the RV area. Visitors will want to consider their planned activities when deciding which campground is best. Beaver Lake is a well stocked lake filled with channel catfish, perch and largemouth bass, so anglers may want to stay at the Hackberry Bend campground. Pioneer campground offers direct access to the sand dunes, along with 13 electricity and water hookups for RV drivers. Both campgrounds are accessible to guests with disabilities.
Famlies traveling with young children may want to head over to the Big Sandy area of the park, featuring a sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a basketball court, a nature trail, a playground and two shelters that can be reserved for special occasions.
